Es el proyecto “Books About Town”: cincuenta bancos en forma de libros dedicados a otras tantas obras de renombre, según se colige por la decoración.

Por lo que pudimos leer, estaban expuestos desde julio hasta el 15 de septiembre. En octubre, los bancos se subastarán. Los beneficios irán a parar al National Literacy Trust.

We could read that they are showed up in the street from July to the 15th September. They will be auctioned in October. And the benefits will belong to the National Literacy Trust.

En la South Bank llegamos hasta Southwark y por delante del Teatro El Globo, y ¡sorpresa! Allí encontramos el banco de Shakespeare.

In the South Bank we went to Southwark and past The Globe and, surprise! There we found Shakespeare’s bench.

Una pena no vi el de Jane Austen que andaba por Bloomsbury. El recorrido literario por ese barrio lo hicimos el año pasado.

It’s a pity I didn’t see Jane Austen’s, it was somewhere in Bloomsbury. We did a literary walk through that part of London last year and we didn’t go there again.

Está orientada sobre todo a literatura juvenil e infantil, pero hay de todo un poco. Y las mujeres están bastante bien representadas. No la mitad, pero sí bastantes (16).

It’s a list of benches specially dedicated to children’s and Young adult’s books, but there is a little bit of everything. And the female sex is fairly well presented. Not half of the benches but enough (16).

Gracias a esta iniciativa, me he fijado en algunas autoras que creo que podrían resultarme interesantes. Aunque posiblemente tenga que leerlas en inglés, ya que muchas de ellas quizá no estén traducidas, si he de juzgar por la ausencia de artículo propio en la wikipedia en español.
